The Backstory

Four years ago Travis and I went on a backpacking trip in SE Asia, starting out in Thailand and making our way south into Malaysia and ending in Singapore. The last night of the trip we had dinner along the river in Singapore (pictured above) at a great little Italian spot. We reminisced about what a fun trip it was and all that we got to see and do. We were newly engaged and the conversation turned to our future together. We talked about continuing traveling as much as possible, but with vacation time the two week trips here and there would only scratch the surface of everywhere we wanted to go. Then Travis came up with a crazy thought – what if before we have a family, the two of us take time off to travel around the world for a year. It was hard to disagree!

So, we shook on it. We had no idea how we would pull it off or when we would go, but we were committed to one day leaving on a trip around the world.

Fast forward and our “one day” has arrived. So, after quitting our corporate gigs, renting out our house and putting everything we own in a storage unit – we’re throwing on backpacks and circling the globe. First up, Brazil!
